Alexis Touchton-Williams, M.D.

Dr. Alexis G. Touchton-Williams is the President and Founder of Gainesville Psychiatry @ Tioga P.L. Her formal education includes an undergraduate degree from Florida State University, and Medical Doctorate, Internship, General Psychiatry Residency, and Child and Adolescent Fellowship from the University of Florida.
Dr. Williams, a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, has extensive clinical experience. She has served as Clinic Director of the outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinic at The Centers in Ocala, Florida. She has worked in community mental health settings, including running a 12-bed inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric unit, and directing an outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry clinic. She served as Director and Treating Physician for the Family Ties Grant Program at Gateway in Jacksonville, Florida. This position involved treating drug and alcohol dependent mothers and their children following DCF recommendation or court mandated residential treatment. In addition to treatment, the position required facilitating and directing weekly team meetings with staff, case managers, psychologists, administrators, nurses and child care workers.
Dr. Williams served as Moonlighting Chief Resident of Psychiatry at University of Florida. In 2006, she was honored with the highest patient satisfaction ratings of the Child and Adolescent Fellows at the University of Florida Psychiatry Clinic. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

She has published papers on the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and given presentations in cooperation with the Department of Justice to federal law enforcement agencies on the topics of Effective Communication with Children and Educating Children on Internet Safety. Although her specialization is child and adolescent psychiatry, she continues to provide mental health care for adult patients as well. Dr. Williams offers ongoing psychiatric care throughout development, from childhood through adolescence to adulthood.
